Trish Benoit's Dream
Wilkerson Ranch, a premiere equine boarding facility located in Starkville, Mississippi, is the product of the owner’s lifelong dream. The property, originally a cattle farm, has been in the Wilkerson family since the 1940’s. Patricia Wilkerson Benoit grew up here riding, taking care of horses, and dreaming of one day owning her own ranch where she could care for the animals she loves.
Before achieving her goal, she worked as a registered nurse in surgery at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi for 37 years. When she retired, she resolved to make her dream a reality. That dream began to come to fruition seven years ago when three of the Wilkerson siblings decided to transform the land from its wild, overgrown, neglected condition into the beautiful landscape that you see in the pictures. The construction of the equine boarding facility began two years ago and resulted in this first-class establishment.
The owners, Patricia and Robert Benoit, not only operate the business, but they also live on site on the 80-acre property which has a gated entrance and is enhanced by a 5-acre lake. The boarding complex is equipped with a full-house generator to ensure that it is never without electricity. In addition to the luxury boarding conditions in the barn, the property features 3 separate double-fenced pastures plus a sand mini arena. There are trails where deer, turkey, rabbits, and, occasionally, bald eagles can be spotted while you enjoy a relaxing ride through the woods and pastures.
As you can see, the big dream of a little girl became reality through her vision, dedication, and determination. At Wilkerson Ranch, you will realize the best value for the care of your horses since they will be cared for as if they are her own.
